Truth, Goodness, and Beauty
Hello, friends. Today I am going to be sharing with you about something that has just been laid on my heart recently. I have seen so many moms just frustrated, and upset, and grieved over not feeling like they are providing truth, goodness, and beauty to their children well through their homeschool choices.
Friends- truth, goodness, and beauty are not a stick with which to beat education into our children or ourselves.
I cannot tell you how it just hurts my momma heart to see these women so engrossed in wanting to share this Truth, goodness, and beauty with their children that they've forgotten where it comes from.
We have the unique capacity as women to be life givers. God created us to continue the cycle of birth into the world. We have access to Truth. We know that Truth is absolute. We know this because we have the Truth. We have the life giving, living, breathing word of the Lord that we can access any time we choose. We know that Truth comes from there.
When we ourselves are saturated with truth it allows us to share that truth and beauty and goodness just by our very nature. If we are not saturated with this Truth, and we do not see the beauty that is around us that has been put there by our Creator, we're not going to be able to instill it in our children by showing them beautiful pieces of art. It doesn't work that way.
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. James 1:17
Anything that comes from us that is good is a gift. It comes down from the Father of heavenly lights who does not change like shifting shadows. We have to have this Truth ingrained in every part of us.
Does that mean we're not going to mess up and have very unbeautiful moments? Absolutely not. We're humans. We're imperfect. We live in a fallen and sinful world. We are being perfected and carried towards that goal, but we're not there yet, and we won't be this side of heaven.
Showing that Truth is how we represent to the world the body of Christ. It's how we show our children that there is beauty even in the brokenness of this world. There is so much joy, and hope, and love in the incredible gifts that we are given by saturating ourselves with this Truth so that we can then share it from our own well with our children.
If we are not filled with His Truth that shows us the beauty and gives us the goodness- when we are trying to impart that to our children through our studies, and through our daily lives, and through our nature walks, friends - it's not going to take.
Homeschool or curriculum is not a method for holiness.
If we really want to impact our children, and through them impact the world, then what truth, and goodness, and beauty should mean to us is not going to come out of an art study, or out of a nature walk. It's not going to come out of a classical curriculum. It's not going to come from a Socratic discussion. It's going to come from God. And having this beautiful Truth inside of us, and viewing the world through that lens will give us the peace and the joy that will make our children want to learn from us. It will give us the light that makes the world look at us and go, "I want what they've got. It's something different."
What we model for our children when we are saturated with Truth is what will really bring forth and cultivate the truth, goodness, and beauty in our homes, and our homeschools, in our lives, and ultimately God's kingdom here on earth.
As you go through this week, and the next week, and the next week - please remember that you don't have to strive to bring truth, goodness, and beauty into your home. It's already there. You just have to remember to keep yourself saturated in it, so that you can share it from your life giving well spring. You will be able to guide your children, and to teach them, and to impart the wisdom that comes from that Truth, and goodness, and beauty. You will be able to see them flourish.
